Among die-hard fans of Star Wars,
Mr. Nagano is a celebrity from the covers he's created
for the Japanese spin-off novel. "It was a big challenge
for me to develop the visuals for the covers. Everybody
in the world knows this famous story, so I meticulously
focused on depicting all the realms while balancing
the composition. It was rewarding and exciting as if
carving out a new horizon of Star Wars,"
says Mr. Nagano. As a result of working on this legendary
saga, his reputation has spread through Japan at light
speed.
Mr. Nagano's gigantic paintings have a dominating presence
and artistic luxury. His top-notch skills are arguably
unrivaled. Yet he is modest and says, "It is crucial
to have great rivals who are talented to keep me motivated."
Maintaining his passion for Art and cementing his interest
in his subjects are equally important for his creation.
"In the future, I would like to do a Western history
series and would like to work on more movie posters,
despite that the current trend is more toward using
photos nowadays," expresses Mr. Nagano. He is a member
of the Society of Illustrators and the Japan
Publication Artist League.
