Mr. Kawano's insatiable curiosity has kept him motivated,
and in his own words, he "Looks, reads, listens, talks,
and acts out; these are my principles in order to have
my artistic sensitivity well maintained." Within the
feast-or-famine climate of the Japanese creative industry,
he has freelanced as a leading Illustrator for several
decades. Mr. Kawano has published six illustrated books
for children with major publishers. He is also dedicated
to creating Illustrations for elementary school textbooks
in Japan. He is a member of the Japan Children's Book
Artists Society and a founder of the website for freelance
Illustrators called e-space.
