Megumi ASAKURA
Fine Art B.A., Tama Art University, Tokyo
Ms Asakura's sophisticated, flowing lines are adorned
by vibrant colors created from a collage of origami
and various colored papers. These lines are made by
continuously sketching until she comes up with new creation,
unlike anything she has seen before. She excels at delineating
human figures and her characters are eloquent subjects
of human nature. "I want to capture every moment of
everything that I see with my own eyes, like the lens
of a camera. I enjoy illustrating subjects such as fairy
tales and classical literature, but as long as I create,
my outlook should be that of a contemporary artist."
Ms Asakura's art has graced the covers of numerous major
magazines and books, especially Japanese versions of
international bestsellers such as Bridget Jones' Diary
(Helen Fielding, published by Sony Magazines).
